Richmondshire Choral Society is probably one of the oldest in the country with its roots going back to 1879. Although basically a community choir with no formal audition process, it performs to a high standard and reserves the right to carry out voice tests to ensure singers are in the correct voice. Its new Musical Director, Edward Seymour, appointed in April 2016, has long experience as a singer from being a chorister in Blackburn Cathedral to being a talented soloist himself, and in music education; he is currently Director of Music at Ripon Grammar School. The choir's rehearsal accompanist is Andrew Christer who is well known in the north east for his performances on piano and organ. New members to the choir are always welcomed.
