The Micklegate Singers are an amateur choir based in York of 30 to 40 mixed voices. Founded in 1963, we celebrated our 50th anniversary in July 2013. During this time we have established a high reputation for our commitment to contemporary music and lesser-known older works and have won nine Performing Right Society Choral Enterprise Awards, presented in conjunction with the National Federation of Music Societies (Making Music). We are a sociable choir and have over the years undertaken trips and exchanges both home and abroad. We are currently building what we hope will be a lasting relationship with a Norwegian chamber choir from Kristiansand and have visited and performed with them in April 2013. The Micklegate Singers are affiliated to Making Music, which represents and supports amateur music societies throughout the UK.
