Rossini: Petite Messe Solennelle

Conductor David Pipe, with Caius Lee (piano) and Valerie Barr (accordion)

Who: York Musical Society
When: 02 April, 2022 7:30pm
Where: Memorial Hall, St. Peter's School, York, YO30 6AB

York Musical Society choir with soloists Katie Wood, Emily Hodkinson, Ed Lambert and Stuart O'Hara. ‘Dear Lord’, Rossini prayed, after finishing this, his last major composition, ‘here it is finished, this poor little mass. Have I just written sacred music, or rather, sacrilegious music? I was born for opera buffa, as you well know. Not much technique, a little bit of heart, that's all. Blessings to you and grant me Paradise.’ The Petite Messe Solennelle is full of memorable colour and drama, ranging from hushed intensity to boisterous high spirits. YMS is very much looking forward to performing together again as a full choir. Join us for this special occasion.
